Changing the common core and inspiring students through providing creativity is a part of Pam’s plans to decrease the dropout rate, allowing students to enjoy school.Pam also revealed her group is against the common core as well. Further stating that poor test score could be detrimental to students mindsets and that finds should be given rather than this common core testing. She explained that aspects from Swiss and other foreign education should be imitated in the US. Creative expression is not offered in the common core curriculum, and the knowledge of social studies is important and the fact that it is being cut down through this testing poses a problem.
In Pam's plans to evaluate students learning and teachers teaching, she stated Regents at the end of class should be taken as well as random drop-in's by supervisors to monitor classes.

Angela of KGSP gave the most favorable speech dealing with the economy, having the majority of other teams liking her speech the best. In order to produce savings they plan to make cuts Amtrak which allows them focus on profitable programs. Not only an Amtrak but cuts and NASA research should be focused on the earth and the money could be spent elsewhere. They also would allow more funding for FEMA. They plan to increase employment rates by creating public jobs through public works projects 54% of Americans don't like how Obama handles jobs and they plan to have a more successful way of doing so.

Tara stated that there are 1.2 million dropouts a year, reiterating the importance of decreasing the dropout rate. Her plans to do entail monitoring attendance and participation of students. Implementing peer tutoring systems and giving incentive for parent involvement are also important for this plan.
Tara and her team are against the common core being that it is difficult adjustment for students to make, stifling expression and creativity. It requires a new style of teaching causing stress and the need for new teaching skills. On the topic concerning that students are learning and that teachers are teaching Tara revealed that her team could implement test taking and cameras in the classrooms to monitors whether or not teachers are doing their jobs.
The biggest change Tara would make dealing with education would be to decrease college cost, making it clear that 64% of jobs require a degree and in doing so it would allow a fair chance for students to receive jobs and higher education. Shu Xin feels that it is important to increase individual time between teachers and students.Shu Xin and her team support the common core but plan to change it. Doing so would entail adding math and writing to increase creative opportunity as well as better show level of understanding. Mr.Dirks asked Shu Xin about competition with states and she went on to say that she feels Race to the top is too fast paced.Shu Xin revealed that she would give baseline exams that should be taken more seriously to declare that students are learning and that teachers are teaching.

She revealed that making tax breaks for large businesses would occur to prevent outsourcing of jobs overseas. More importantly she plans to lower the tax rate to increase spending which would improve the economy as well as provide tax breaks for the middle class.

Stephen mentioned the use of elementary school programs, and train the brain from technologies and allow incentive with learning. He and S&AUnited are against the common core, stating that it is unfair for students who are poor test takers as well as the fact that it is costly and does not guarantee educational improvement and causes teachers to teach for the test. Stephen was unclear with what kinds of technology his team plans to implement and guest listener on the Q&A Mr.Dirks challenged Stephen by saying that he feels technology hurts students literacy and ability to formulate sentences.

By creating more jobs they plan to cut taxes this wouldn't be detrimental to the economy because more Americans would be taxed since more Americans would have jobs. They also plan to get rid of the graduated income tax and set up an equal tax rate for all Americans.

Lindsey made it clear that adult involvement is critical in decreasing the dropout rate and that increasing this as well as rewards for accomplishments could help decrease this rate. Lindsey showed that she is against the common core, detailing that it plagued students with work. Along with the fact that it was unfair in the sense that it has no accommodations for students with special needs. Lindsey stated that spontaneous evaluation random citizens by administration as well as random test collected by administrators would allow the evaluation that students are learning and teachers are teaching. Collegiate programs for teachers should be more selective similar to doctors making it more difficult to become a teacher, perhaps ensuring they will be good at their job.
